Approval of Minutes— Lynn Grimm moved to accept the minutes. Deb Dosemagen seconded. Minutes were approved. 2. President’s Report: Bonnie thanked Ron Jetty and Connie Wolf for all the help they gave her this past year. In Wisconsin 74 people received certification last November. Those at WEAC Winter Academy received a WNBN pin. A number of Wisconsin NBCTs attended the Atlanta NBPTS conference. We hope that next year we will be about to old a Wisconsin Hill Day in Madison with the legislature. We would also like to see more districts offer support for NBCTs and candidates. Ron spoke about the improvements to the part of the WEAC website that provides information about National Board Certification. He also mentioned the WNBN groupsite that provides social networking for Wisconsin NBCTs. Kristen Henningfeld explained more about groupsite and its possibilities for us. Tom Mulligan brought up a concern that our website be identified as ours, and not as WEAC’s. The board had discussed this during the morning meeting and agreed that the WEAC website would be WNBN’s official website. 3. Standing Committee Reports · Tax-Exemptstatus - We received our tax-exempt status, so there is no longer a need for this committee. · Promotional DVD - Laura Lundy has a prototype which needs improvement. After today’s meeting Linda Barrington will videotape anyone who’d like to be filmed for the video. · Writing Retreats - Wendy Sondrol said that with the location of the WEAC Winter Academy changing each year, there are different challenges to contend with. For the future, the amount of bandwidth may become critical for interactive presentation. Bonnie said the January retreat also had a great group of candidates. We’ve improved over the past four years and now do a good job of managing time, providing materials, and providing options. The first one was in Jan. 2006. Jo Christianson will be in charge of the Jan. 22-24, 2010 retreat at the Country Springs Hotel in Waukesha. Wendy will again do the WEAC Winter Academy (Feb. 26-28, 2010) retreat in Madison. At the second Winter Academy at Wausau in March, newly certified NBCTs will receive their pins. · Advanced Candidates – Wendy Sondrol said that people have been very willing to take on advanced candidates. At Winter Retreats, hardly any advanced candidates showed up. Bonnie suggested that when she sends out the yearly letter to candidates just before they receive their notification from NBPTS, she’ll add Wendy Sondrol’s name to the letter and explain that she will provide assistance for those who decide to redo some areas of the certification process. Kristen Henningfeld suggested that candidates could be part of groupsite and we could create a subgroup just for advanced candidates. · Speaker’s Bureau - Meg Graham sent a report via Connie Wolf that there has been no activity. She suspects that individuals are speaking in their school districts on their own. Deb Dosemagen suggested that we be more pro-active in contacting school boards or other groups, asking to speak to them about NB Certification. Speaking to school administrators and school board members at their conventions may be a possibility. Tom Mulligan will pursue this. 4. Old Business · Review of by-laws - Bonnie Scholz reviewed the changes the board made to the by-laws, creating three-year terms for board members and making the vice-president the president-elect. The past president will be an ex-officio member. · Newsletter Report - Linda Barrington asked for volunteers for the profiles for the upcoming newsletters. · Atlanta Conference Report – Connie Wolf talked about the panel discussion (of which Andy Kuemmel was a part) on all the research that’s been done on National Board effectiveness.
